Casey Veggies: From Inglewood to Rap Stardom
Early Life and Basketball AmbitionsCasey Veggies, born Casey Jones, entered the world on July 18, 1993, in Inglewood, California. During his high school years, Jones was highly sought after by basketball teams, indicating his athletic prowess. However, his passion for rap ultimately led him down a different path.
Rise of a Rap Star
Veggies' musical journey began at the tender age of 14 when he released his first mixtape, "Customized Greatly Vol. 1," under the alias Custom. He also became a founding member of the infamous hip-hop collective Odd Future. While he contributed to their debut mixtape, "The Odd Future Tape," released in 2008, Veggies soon realized that his vision extended beyond the group.
Going Solo and Founding Peas & Carrots
Veggies' solo efforts gained momentum with the release of "Customized Greatly Vol. 2" in 2009. He subsequently collaborated with Joshton Peas and Anwar Carrots to establish PNCINTL, later known as Peas & Carrots International. Through their collaborative efforts with YG of Def Jam Recordings, Veggies' dedication to rap grew stronger.
Collaborations and Recognition
Veggies' trajectory soared as he toured as an opening act for Mac Miller's "Blue Slide Park Tour." He shared the stage with renowned artists like Nipsey Hussle, Dom Kennedy, Kendrick Lamar, and his fellow Odd Future members. Partnerships with Rich Hil, King Chip, and Raheem Devaughn further solidified his presence in the rap scene.
Milestone Performances and Releases
In 2012, Veggies performed alongside Rita Ora at a sold-out show in New York City. He also appeared on MTV's "RapFixLive" with Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa. The release of his "Life Changes" mixtape followed shortly after.
Major Label Debut with Live & Grow
Veggies signed with VIC and Epic Records in 2013 and began working on his debut album, "Live & Grow," which was released in 2015. The album features collaborations with Juicy J and reflects Veggies' experiences and aspirations.
Continued Success and Collaboration
