Birth and Early Life
Nicholas was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada. She developed an interest in astrology at the age of twelve after reading a book on the subject.
Career Path
At the age of 20, Nicholas moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. After deciding to leave the industry, she enrolled in the California Institute of Integral Studies, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. During this time, she began studying feminist thinkers such as bell hooks, which sparked her interest in social justice.
Astrological Career
Nicholas began her astrological career by writing a weekly newsletter for friends and family in 2011. Her work centers on progressive values and marginalized communities, such as the queer and transgender community.
Nicholas gained recognition in 2018 when she appeared in the Netflix series "Explained" episode on astrology. She also became a "resident astrologer" for Oprah Magazine's website.
Literary Debut
In 2020, Nicholas released her first book, "You Were Born for This: Astrology for Radical Acceptance," through HarperCollins. In an interview with KCRW, she expressed the hope that her book would help people "access the wisdom of their chart" in order to "fast-track their purpose."
Mobile Application
In December 2020, Nicholas launched the iPhone app CHANI, which offers users astrological insights.
Personal Life
Nicholas is married to Sonia Passari, founder of Freefrom, a national organization empowering survivors of domestic violence. The couple resides in Los Angeles.
