Charles Bozon: French Alpine Skiing Champion
Early Life and CareerCharles Bozon, a French alpine skier, was born in Chamonix, France, and began skiing at a young age. He quickly demonstrated exceptional talent, winning the French National Championships in downhill (1956 and 1957), giant slalom (1956 and 1961), and slalom (1956 and 1961).
Olympic and World Championships
Bozon represented France at two Winter Olympics: in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956 and in Squaw Valley in 1960. In both Olympics, he competed in all three disciplines: downhill, giant slalom, and slalom. Bozon achieved consistent top-10 finishes in all six events but only won one medal: a bronze in the slalom in Squaw Valley.
Tragic Death
On November 18, 1964, at the age of 31, Bozon tragically lost his life in an avalanche while climbing the Aiguille Verte (4122 m) in the Mont Blanc massif, near his hometown of Chamonix.
Legacy
In honor of his achievements, one of the ski runs in the Chamonix area is named after Charles Bozon, commemorating his exceptional skills and legacy in the world of alpine skiing.
