Born into a family steeped in maritime tradition, John Kerridge had aspirations to pursue a career in the Royal Navy. However, ill health forced him to abandon those plans.
Naval Service
During World War II, Kerridge served on a motor gunboat, rising to the rank of lieutenant by the end of his service.
Olympic Glory
In 1952, Kerridge represented Great Britain at the Helsinki Olympics. Competing in the Finn class, he earned a silver medal.
Business Leadership
After his yachting career, Kerridge became Managing Director of Fairey Marine Company. He also actively participated in the revision of racing rules for the Finn class.
A Yachting Legacy
John Kerridge's son, Alistair, inherited his father's passion for sailing. He represented Great Britain at the 1972 Olympics. Kerridge's contributions to the sport left a lasting legacy in the annals of British yachting.
