Biography of Charles Dance
Charles Dance is an English actor, screenwriter, and director. He was born on October 10, 1946, in Redditch, England. Dance comes from a family of an engineer and a cook. Despite being predicted to have a career in graphic design, he chose the path of an actor.

Early Career
Dance made his debut on stage in 1974 and worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the 1970s. During this time, he performed in numerous productions in London and Stratford-upon-Avon. However, his breakthrough came in 1984 when he played the lead role in the television adaptation of Paul Scott's novel "The Jewel in the Crown" for Granada Television.

Television and Film Career
In addition to his stage work, Dance appeared in various English television films, including "Rebecca," "The Phantom of the Opera," and "The Cold House," for which he received an Emmy nomination. He also had a guest role in the English comedy series "Absolutely Fabulous" after a chance encounter with the lead actors while filming in Morocco.

Dance has also appeared in numerous films, sharing the screen with Meryl Streep in "Plenty" (1985) and Eddie Murphy in "The Golden Child" (1986). Russian audiences may recognize him from films such as "Alien³" (1992), "Space Truckers" (1996), "Gosford Park" (2001), and "The Dolls" (2006). He also played a henchman of the main antagonist in the James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only" (1981), and later portrayed the creator of Bond, Ian Fleming, in the biographical film "Goldeneye" (1989).

For his role in the film "Kabloonak" (1994), Dance was awarded the Best Actor prize at the Paris Film Festival. In 2004, he made his debut as a screenwriter and director with the film "Ladies in Lavender." Despite his foray into filmmaking, Dance continued to work in the theater. In 2007, he was recognized as "Best Actor" by the Critics' Association for his role as Lewis in "The Shadow Within."

Personal Life
From 1970 to 2004, Charles Dance was married to Joanna Dance, with whom he had two children, Oliver and Rebecca. After 2004, Dance was briefly involved with actress Sophia Myles, who was 34 years younger than him.
Currently, the 63-year-old Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire resides in London.
