Breakout Role and Recognition

In 1995, Colemen gained critical acclaim for her performance as Scarlett in the film "Four Weddings and a Funeral." Her portrayal earned her a British Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Personal Struggles

Tragedy struck Colemen in 1987 when her 23-year-old friend Jonathan Lycocke passed away. The loss triggered a period of depression and anxiety, which manifested in eating disorders, including anorexia and bulimia.

Sudden Death

On November 13, 2001, Colemen spent the evening with her family. Despite feeling unwell, she insisted on returning home. The following morning, her family became concerned when they could not reach her.

Colemen's mother, Ann, went to her daughter's apartment and found her collapsed on the floor, unconscious. Her inhaler was in another room. The 33-year-old actress was rushed to Whittington Hospital in North London, where she was pronounced dead. The cause of death was determined to be an asthma attack.
