The Formation of the Cheshire Cat

In the melting pot of three cities—Gubkin, Dubna, and Dimitrovgrad—a musical ensemble emerged. A group of individuals from diverse backgrounds coalesced in the dormitories of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, fueled by their shared passion for music. The Cheshire Cat was born in Moscow, its ranks swelled by the addition of several Muscovites.

Debut Album and Early Recognition

With their musical arsenal at their disposal, the Cheshire Cat released their debut album in early 1999. Comprising 11 original compositions, the album showcased their eclectic sound. Studio Extraphone was impressed and invited the band to contribute to their compilation album, "PROMOYUSHIN." The Cheshire Cat graced the stage as headliners at the compilation's launch event in the prestigious Moscow club, "Tochka."

Touring and Festival Participation

The Cheshire Cat embarked on a whirlwind of activities in the years that followed. They crisscrossed Russia, gracing the stages of cities like St. Petersburg, Smolensk, Tver, Yaroslavl, Perm, Arkhangelsk, Rybinsk, and Nizhny Novgorod. Their reputation grew with numerous performances at esteemed festivals such as "Aerosmith" (Moscow, 1999), "Festos" (Moscow), "Let's Talk About Music" (Moscow, 2000), "Oskolskaya Lira" (2001), "Renewal" (Yaroslavl, 2001), "Territory" (Tver, 2001), "Internet Open Air" (Perm, 2001), "Generation 2002" (Moscow, 2002), and "Celebration of the MK Newspaper" (Moscow, 2002).

Studio Albums and Further Acclaim

In 2001, the band released an EP featuring four innovative tracks, which they disseminated through the internet. In 2002, they embarked on the recording of their second full-length album, "Tonmeister," at studios in Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow. Seven songs were completed during this period.

Concert Highlights

Throughout their musical journey, the Cheshire Cat headlined major festivals and performed in prestigious venues. Notable performances included their appearance at the "Sound Mood" festival (Moscow, 2003), their laureate status at the "Rock-line 2003" festival (Kungur, Perm Oblast), and their appearance at the "Summer Mood" festival (Moscow, 2003).
