Film Career
Short FilmsJeffs made her directorial debut with the short film "Stroke" in 1993, which she also wrote and edited.
Feature Films
In 2001, Jeffs released the drama "Rain," for which she wrote the screenplay. Her breakthrough came with the 2003 British drama "Sylvia," based on the lives of Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes. The film starred Gwyneth Paltrow and Daniel Craig. She went on to direct the 2009 American dramedy "Sunshine Cleaning," starring Amy Adams and Emily Blunt as sisters starting a crime scene cleaning business.

Jeffs resides in Auckland, New Zealand, with her partner John Toon, a cinematographer who has collaborated on many of her films, including "Sunshine Cleaning," "Sylvia," and "The Jane Austen Book Club."
