Early Life and Education

Paolo Celi was born in Rimini, Italy, and ordained to the priesthood on March 19, 1965. After completing his studies at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1966, he embarked on a distinguished career in the Vatican.

Diplomatic and Administrative Roles

In 1992, Celi was appointed Under-Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See's Secretariat of State. He held this role until 1995, when he was named Secretary of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See.

Episcopal Appointment and Titular Archbishop

On December 16, 1995, Celi was elevated to the rank of Titular Archbishop of Clusium. He received episcopal ordination from Pope John Paul II the following January.
