Early LifeBorn in the city of Dyatkovo, Zinaida Samodurova's father worked as a foreman at the Dyatkovo Crystal Plant. She completed her primary education at the age of 14 and enrolled in a factory school.
Partisan and Intelligence Activities
In November 1941, at the age of 18, Zinaida joined the partisan detachment led by Senior Lieutenant N.S. Oreshkin as a partisan scout and intelligence gatherer. She was an active member of the Dyatkovo underground organization.
Zinaida's reconnaissance missions involved gathering vital information on the disposition of German military units in various locations, including Zhizdra, Bryansk, Bezhitsa, Lyudinovo, Rzhanitsa, and Zhukovka. Her intelligence contributions were crucial in aiding the partisan movement.
Capture and Execution
While carrying out a reconnaissance assignment, Zinaida was apprehended near the village of Bolshaya Zhukovka. Despite enduring brutal torture, she refused to divulge any information about her comrades or the resistance network.
On March 4, 1942, Zinaida Samodurova was executed by firing squad in the village of Ulem.
Legacy
Zinaida's unwavering courage and selflessness became a symbol of the resilience of the Soviet partisans. She was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree.
Her memory is honored in her hometown of Dyatkovo, where she is buried. A monument in her likeness stands as a testament to her heroic sacrifice and the indomitable spirit of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War.
