Early Life and Education

Colin Kelly Jost was born on June 29, 1982, in Staten Island, New York City. Growing up in Grymes Hill, he was influenced by his father, a high school history teacher, and his mother, a chief medical officer for the FDNY. Jost attended Regis High School in Manhattan, where he excelled in extracurricular activities, including writing for the school newspaper and participating in drama. He graduated from Harvard University in 2004 with a degree in History and Literature, including coursework in Russian and British literature.

Career in Comedy

After graduating from Harvard, Jost pursued a career in comedy. From 2005 to 2020, he was a writer for "Saturday Night Live," eventually becoming head writer and co-head writer. He has also performed stand-up on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and appeared on HBO and TBS.

"Weekend Update"

From 2008 to 2017, Jost co-hosted "Weekend Update" on "Saturday Night Live." His offbeat humor and satirical commentary on current events earned him acclaim.

Film Career

Jost made his acting debut in the 2015 comedy "Staten Island Summer," which he also co-wrote. He starred in the 2016 romantic comedy "How to Be Single," alongside Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson.

Personal Life

Jost met his future wife, actress Scarlett Johansson, on "Saturday Night Live." After a period of dating, they became engaged in 2019 and married in a private ceremony in 2020.

Current Projects

In July 2020, Jost published a memoir titled "A Very Punchable Face." He also provided the voice of Dwayne in the upcoming animated comedy "Tom and Jerry."
