Early Life and Career

Born on February 1, 1957, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Silk Cozart was an exceptional student-athlete from a young age. A talented football, basketball, and track star, he excelled both on the field and in the classroom. After high school, Cozart attended King College in Bristol, Tennessee, where he studied child psychology and continued his athletic pursuits.

Modeling and Acting Debut

Following a knee injury that ended his professional basketball aspirations, Cozart transitioned to modeling in Miami. His success in the industry caught the attention of Warner Bros., leading to his film debut in "Blue Skies Again" in 1983. Eager to hone his acting skills, Cozart relocated to New York City, where he studied at the American Repertory Theatre, Sundance Institute, and performed in several stage productions.

Television and Film Success

Cozart's television career took off with roles in HBO's "Dream On" (1990) and the NBC series "Reasonable Doubts" (1991). He also starred in "A Family Divided," "Slam Dunk Ernest," and "Walker, Texas Ranger" before landing a memorable role in "Any Day Now" (1998), where he showcased his acting and singing talents.

Cozart's film credits include collaborations with renowned directors such as Spike Lee in "School Daze" (1988) and notable actors such as Tom Hanks in "Turner & Hooch" (1989) and Sean Connery in "Just Cause" (1995).

Production and Philanthropy
