Early Life and Education

Daniel Stevens was born on October 10, 1982, in London, England. He was adopted by a teacher couple and raised in Croydon alongside his younger stepbrother. Stevens attended Tonbridge School in Kent, where he first discovered his passion for theater, encouraged by his teacher and writer Jonathan Smith.

After graduating, Stevens pursued a degree in English Literature at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. While there, he joined the Marlowe Society and the Footlights theatrical club, where he performed alongside future stars such as Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, and Emma Thompson.

Theatrical Career

In 1997, Stevens secured a role as the murderous King in Peter Hall's production of "Macbeth" at the National Youth Theatre. This performance paved the way for his professional debut with the company's touring production, which visited numerous cities in the UK and the United States.

Film and Television Breakthrough

Stevens made his television debut in the mini-series "Frankenstein" in 2004. He followed this with roles in "Dracula" (2006) and the lead role in the three-part drama "The Line of Beauty" (2006).
