Early Life and Education

Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Dana Buchman pursued her education at Brown University, followed by the Rhode Island School of Design. She then attended the prestigious St. Martin's School of Art in London, excelling in her studies.

Career at Ellen Tracy and Liz Claiborne

Upon graduation, Buchman joined Ellen Tracy. In 1982, she was hired by renowned American entrepreneur and designer Liz Claiborne, working in the design team for the knitwear division. Five years later, she launched her first own collection under the Liz Claiborne label.

Personal Life

In 1985, Buchman married New York judge Tom Farber, and they have two daughters, Charlotte and Annie-Rose.

Council of Fashion Designers America and Charitable Work

Buchman has been a member of the Council of Fashion Designers America since 1991. In 2006, she and her daughter Charlotte co-authored "A Special Education: One Family's Journey Through the Maze of Learning Disabilities," sharing their experiences and advocating for support for children with learning disabilities. Buchman has donated the proceeds from the book sales to the National Center for Learning Disabilities.

Transition to Kohl's

In 2008, Buchman announced her decision to discontinue her luxury line and focus solely on designing for Kohl's. In 2011, the Dana Buchman brand was officially sold by Liz Claiborne to Kohl's.
