Early Life and Football Career

Danny Cowley was born in Havering, London, England. He began his footballing journey as a youth player for Wimbledon FC, where he spent six years. However, due to Osgood-Schlatter disease, he was unable to secure a professional contract with the club.

Non-League Career

Cowley's playing career took him through several non-league clubs, including Barking, Romford, Hornchurch, and Brentwood Town. In 2007, he was forced to retire due to an injury.

Coaching Career

Concord Rangers

Following his retirement as a player, Cowley transitioned into coaching, becoming the assistant manager at Concord Rangers.

Portsmouth

In March 2021, Cowley was appointed as manager of Portsmouth until the end of the 2020-21 season. He was reunited with his brother, Nicky, who joined him as assistant manager. In his debut match, Portsmouth secured a 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town.

After leading Portsmouth to six wins in their remaining 12 matches, Cowley signed a new "long-term" contract with the club on May 11, 2021, cementing his position as manager.
