Biography of Danny Granger Jr.

Danny Granger Jr. is an American professional basketball player who primarily plays as a small forward, but is also capable of playing power forward and shooting guard positions. He was born in New Orleans and grew up in its suburb, Metairie. Granger attended Grace King High School, where he was the leader of the school's basketball team.

High School Career

In his senior year, Granger averaged 24.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 5.5 blocks per game. He was nominated for the All-State High School team and was recognized as one of the top high school basketball players in the country by Street & Smith's Sports magazine. Granger was also a finalist for the prestigious Wendy's High School Heisman Award, which recognizes achievements in academics and sports.

College Years

Granger enrolled at Bradley University in Illinois in 2001, majoring in civil engineering. He had a successful debut season playing for the Bradley Braves in the Missouri Valley Conference, averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds per game. In his sophomore season, Granger scored a career-high 29 points in the first game and continued to excel throughout the season.

In January 2003, he transferred to the University of New Mexico. In his final game for the Bradley Braves, Granger scored a personal best of 39 points. In the 2003/2004 season, playing for the New Mexico Lobos in the Mountain West Conference, Granger became the team's leader in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks.

In his last season in college, Granger was once again the team's standout player and was named the Most Valuable Player of the conference championship. He led the Lobos to win the conference championship and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Granger graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2005, having played 52 games for the Lobos and scoring 994 points.

NBA Career

Granger was selected as the 17th overall pick by the Indiana Pacers in the 2005 NBA Draft. He started his rookie season as a backup but quickly moved into the starting lineup due to injuries. Granger's performance earned him a spot in the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

Over the years, Granger established himself as a key player for the Pacers and signed a new contract with the team in 2008. He continued to improve, averaging a career-high 25.8 points per game during the 2008/2009 season. Granger was selected as an NBA All-Star for the first time and was named the Most Improved Player of the season.

Throughout his NBA career, Granger faced various injuries that limited his playing time. He played for the Pacers until 2014 and then had stints with the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, and Detroit Pistons before retiring in 2015.

Granger's dedication and hard work on the court earned him respect from teammates and coaches. He is considered one of the best players in the history of the Indiana Pacers and was known for his scoring ability and versatility on the court.
