Early Life and Career
Hansson rose to prominence as the founder of Daily Rush, a Danish website focused on online gaming news and community. He later moved to the United States to pursue higher education, earning a bachelor's degree in computer science and business administration.
Ruby on Rails
In 2005, while working for 37signals on their project management system Basecamp, Hansson developed Ruby on Rails. This web application framework, based on the Ruby programming language, revolutionized the way web applications were built.
Recognition and Accomplishments
Hansson received the OSCON "Hacker of the Year" award in 2005 for his creation of Ruby on Rails. He co-authored the book "Agile Web Development with Rails" with Dave Thomas in the same year. In 2006, he was featured on the cover of Linux Journal and was named one of the fifty most influential people in Web 2.0 by Business 2.0 magazine.
