Biography of Delfina Sedeno
Delfina Sedeno is a young woman from the Dominican Republic who suffers from a very rare condition called hematidrosis. This condition causes her to cry bloody tears and sweat blood. The symptoms of this strange illness started four years ago when Delfina noticed blood oozing from her belly button and under her nails. This was followed by severe hair loss, bloody tears, and intense nosebleeds. Frightened, Delfina sincerely believed that she was suffering from a terrifying and shameful disease. The nosebleeds continued for more than two weeks without stopping. Delfina was hospitalized and received a blood transfusion, which improved her condition. However, doctors were unable to determine the cause of her unusual bleeding. Meanwhile, Delfina suffered greatly. Losing her hair, crying bloody tears and sweat, her peers suddenly and unanimously started avoiding her due to her unknown illness. She dropped out of school, became reclusive, and even decided to take her own life. After consuming a lethal dose of sedatives, Delfina nearly died, but her family found her in time in an almost lifeless state. With cardiac arrest and shock therapy, Delfina survived. When she regained consciousness, she realized that not everything in life was so hopeless. After some time, Delfina met her beloved Recaris Avila, who managed to convince her that she was the most beautiful girl in the world. Delfina's condition soon became clear, and her illness finally received a diagnosis - hematidrosis. This condition affects and weakens the walls of blood vessels, allowing blood to seep through them and eventually come out with sweat or tears. Such a condition has often become a biblical story, which is why people cannot help but react to someone who cries or sweats blood. Generally, the manifestation of bloody discharges is most often a result of psychological tension, stress, and fear. In Delfina's case, this created a vicious cycle, as in order for the bleeding to stop, she had to calm down, which was something she struggled with. Fortunately for Delfina, her condition has now normalized, and the key factor in her case is the control of her psychological state. Most of all, Delfina is happy that she is no longer alone, as she now has her mother and her beloved by her side. Although Delfina still experiences occasional bleeding, it is no longer as severe, and she knows how to manage it.
