Continued Challenges and Asian Games Success

In 2010, Deng faced a recovery period due to a sciatic nerve injury. She was only able to compete on the uneven bars and balance beam. Nonetheless, she earned a spot on the Chinese national team for the 2010 Asian Games, where she won gold in the team event and silver on the balance beam.

Injury and Olympic Triumph

In 2011, Deng missed the World Championships in Tokyo due to injury. However, in 2012, despite ongoing health issues, she successfully performed a double twisting Yurchenko vault, which was crucial for the Chinese team. After winning the all-around title at the Chinese National Championships, Deng secured her place in the national team for the 2012 Olympics. Although ranked fourth, she was not selected to compete on the uneven bars, as her teammate He Kexin was stronger in that apparatus.

Olympic Success and Team Captain

At the 2012 London Olympics, Deng won gold on the balance beam with a score of 6.6 for difficulty and 9.0 for execution and artistry. Her performance on the beam remained unmatched throughout the competition. Additionally, she was chosen as the captain of the Chinese team, taking over from Jiang Yuyuan.

Overall, Deng Linlin's career has been marked by triumphs and challenges, with notable achievements in international competitions, including Olympic and World Championship victories. Her dedication and resilience have solidified her status as one of China's most successful gymnasts.
