The Birth of "Devchushki"

In 1999, renowned producer Igor Matvienko and composer Andrei Zuyev envisioned a captivating girl group. From a pool of hundreds of hopefuls, four extraordinary young women emerged: Tanya Gerasimova, Valya Rubtsova, Lipa Teterich, and Ira Dubtsova.

The "Naughty Angels"

At the "Babii Bunt" festival, Andrei Grigoriev-Apollonov hailed the "Devchushki" as "charming pranksters." Their playful and irreverent spirit earned them the affectionate nickname from Alexander Anatolevich (MTV). "We definitely know how to have fun and make others laugh," affirmed Tanya, Lipa, and Valya.

The Departure of Ira

Despite their close-knit bond, the group amicably parted ways with Ira Dubtsova. "We don't want to hold back someone who's made a decision they believe is right," said Valya. "Now we're like 'Charlie's Angels'," quipped Lipa.

The Album: "Ne Nado Zhu-Zhu"

After three years of meticulous work, "Devchushki" released their debut album, "Ne Nado Zhu-Zhu," in June 2002. "We wanted to create something extraordinary," they recalled. The recording process was filled with joy and inspiration. "I love recording in the studio," said Valya. "It's such a positive environment, especially with Igor Matvienko guiding us with the perfect tone and words."

Hit Songs and Inspiration

The album featured a diverse collection of 12 tracks, including their debut hit "Ya Khochu Byt Ptichkoi" and the romantic "Igrushka." "Ostrovok Lyubvi" became a potential dancefloor anthem. "It's a summertime song that will resonate with young women," said Tanya. But the group's ultimate anthem, in their eyes, was "Ved Ya Takaya (Krasivaya Segodnya)."
