Diego Contento is a German professional footballer who currently plays as a defender for Fortuna Düsseldorf. He rose to prominence during his time with Bayern Munich, where he was groomed in the club's youth system from a young age.
Early Career and Bayern Munich
Contento joined Bayern Munich's academy at the age of five. At 13, he was promoted to Bayern Munich II, where he played as a defender for two years. On January 13, 2010, he was offered a professional contract by the senior Bayern Munich team. He made his debut in a match against Red Bull Salzburg, coming on as a substitute in the 58th minute.
His first official match was in the German Cup, where Bayern faced Greuther Fürth. Contento quickly became a regular in the starting lineup and played in four Champions League matches that season. However, he missed the Round of 16 due to an injury sustained in a match against Köln.
Contento's contract with Bayern was extended until 2013.
Career ProgressionSeeking more playing time, Contento joined Bordeaux in the French league at the start of the 2014/15 season. He signed a four-year contract with the club. After its expiration, he became a free agent and joined Fortuna Düsseldorf, who had returned to the Bundesliga.

Personal Life
