Early Life and Career

From a young age, Don and Phil had a passion for music. When Don was 19 years old, they released their first single, "Keep A' Lovin' Me". Although it didn't gain much fame, their second single, "Bye Bye Love", written by the Bryant couple, was featured on their father Ike Everly's radio show. The song reached second place on the national charts and became a phenomenal success. The duo continued to produce hit songs like "All I Have to Do Is Dream" and "Bird Dog".

Success and Influence

In the 1960s, The Everly Brothers' success led to the success of their recording company, Warner Bros. Records. Their first single under this label topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became Warner Bros. Records' first release in the UK. However, in 1963, the Everly brothers joined the army, temporarily disappearing from the music scene. Upon their return, they faced tough competition from "The Beatles", who had already dominated the music market. Nevertheless, their reputation grew in England in the mid-60s, as evidenced by their album "Two Yanks in England", which featured members of "Led Zeppelin". Their recordings were highly regarded by music critics.

Legacy and Solo Career

It is widely believed that The Everly Brothers' duo influenced future rock stars like "The Beatles" and "The Rolling Stones". Although their early music belonged to the country genre, their later hits were considered rockabilly. In the mid-80s, they were among the first artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 1997, The Everly Brothers received the honorary Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked them 33rd on the list of the greatest artists of all time. The duo disbanded in 1973 after a bitter incident on stage when Phil threw his guitar and left Don to finish the song, declaring, "The Everly Brothers died ten years ago."

Ten years later, the brothers reunited and released an album with the help of Dave Edmunds. Their composition "On the Wings of a Nightingale", written by Paul McCartney, gained immense popularity and charted well. Their last song together was "Born Yesterday" in 1986. Don Everly later attempted to pursue a solo career. He found success with his band "Dead Cowboys" in Nashville and later performed with Albert Lee.
