Biography of Drew Lachey
Andrew John Lachey, also known as Drew Lachey, was born on August 8, 1976, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is an American singer and actor, best known as a member of the group "98 Degrees," the winner of the second season of "Dancing with the Stars," and the younger brother of Nick Lachey.
Early Life and Career
Lachey began his career as a military field medic in the United States Army. Afterward, he worked in a grocery store and served as a camp counselor. In collaboration with his brother Nick Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons, he became a member of the pop group "98 Degrees."
In 2001, Lachey made a guest appearance on "Hollywood Squares." From January 3 to March 21, 2005, he performed on Broadway as the character Mark Cohen in the musical "Rent." He also appeared multiple times on Nick's MTV show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica."
Acting and Dancing Career
In June 2008, Lachey joined the cast of the Broadway production of Monty Python's "Spamalot" as Patsy, the loyal servant of King Arthur. He remained in this role for three months.
Lachey gained significant recognition as a contestant on the second season of "Dancing with the Stars." His professional partner was Cheryl Burke. In the sixth week of the competition, they received a perfect score of 30 for their tango. In the final eighth week, they earned 30 points for both their paso doble and freestyle dances, securing the highest score of the week. On February 26, 2006, Lachey and Burke were crowned the champions of "Dancing with the Stars."
Lachey also served as co-host alongside Nancy O'Dell for the Miss USA 2006 beauty pageant. The live broadcast from Baltimore, Maryland aired on NBC on April 21, 2006.
From December 2006 to February 2007, Lachey participated in the "Dancing with the Stars" tour, which toured Canada and the United States. On the final show on April 17, 2007, Lachey and Cheryl Burke surprised the audience by performing their freestyle dance to the song "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)."
In addition to his dancing career, Lachey appeared as a co-host for the first three weeks of the fifth season of "Dancing with the Stars," temporarily replacing Samantha Harris who was on maternity leave. When Gloria Estefan withdrew from the competition on October 16, 2007, Lachey returned to perform a foxtrot with Cheryl.
Personal Life
Lachey married Lea Dellecave on October 14, 2000. They were childhood sweethearts and attended the same school, where Lea was a choreographer and one of the dancers for "98 Degrees." They welcomed their first child, daughter Isabella Claire Lachey, on March 23, 2006, in Los Angeles.
