Biography of Elena Conte

Elena Conte is a Canadian designer based in Toronto. She specializes in creating contemporary everyday clothing that caters to the urban lifestyle. Her collections allow women to feel comfortable and effortless in any situation.

Early Career

After working in various roles in the fashion industry, retail management, public relations, and graphic design, Conte gained enough experience to venture into entrepreneurship. She currently leads the home textile production team at Joseph Mimran & Associates.

Education and Toronto Fashion Incubator

Elena Conte completed a fashion technique and design program at Sheridan College in 1992. In 1999, she started her own business while also collaborating with the non-profit organization Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI). TFI nurtures and promotes talented individuals in the Canadian fashion community, offering education and support in marketing, strategic planning, sales, business planning, exporting, and more. Conte was a TFI resident for three years.

Success in the Fashion Industry

Until 2005, Elena Conte focused on creating modern athletic clothing lines for women, which were showcased in numerous boutiques across Canada. She attributes her success in the fashion world to Toronto Fashion Incubator's ability to teach and the collaborative atmosphere. Conte stated, "It is very challenging to work independently in such a competitive environment. I highly recommend the TFI residency program to all new entrepreneurs. The creative environment at TFI is very positive."

Transition to Home Textiles

In 2005, Elena Conte shifted her focus to textile products for the home. She began collaborating with Joseph Mimran & Associates, a company that produces products under its own name for Loblaw Companies Limited, one of Canada's largest retailers. With her knowledge of the textile industry and skills in production management and design, Conte paved the way for her new endeavor. She became responsible for developing products for the private label brand "President's Choice" belonging to Loblaw Companies Limited. Specifically, Elena oversaw the approval of production for bathroom accessories and bedroom goods.

Current Work

Currently, Elena Conte leads the home textile production team at Joseph Mimran & Associates.
