Biography of Elvira de Hidalgo
Elvira de Hidalgo (1891-1980) was a Spanish soprano singer. She made her debut in 1908 in Naples, where she performed the role of Rosina. Throughout her career, she appeared on leading stages in Europe, including the Vienna Opera, Grand Opera, Barcelona, and Rome.
International Recognition
In 1910, Elvira de Hidalgo made her Metropolitan Opera debut, once again performing the role of Rosina, which was considered one of her best repertoire. She gained international recognition for her exceptional talent and received critical acclaim for her performances.
Artistic Achievements
In 1913, Elvira de Hidalgo went on a tour to St. Petersburg, showcasing her skills to a wider audience. In 1924, she performed the role of Gilda at Covent Garden. Her repertoire also included roles such as the Queen of the Night, Norina in the opera "Don Pasquale," and others.
Collaboration with Chaliapin
