Early Life

Born on May 24, 1994, in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, Emma McKeon is the daughter of Ron McKeon, an Olympic swimmer, and Susie McKeon, a Commonwealth Games swimmer. She has an older brother, David, who is also an Olympic swimmer.

Emma attended Illawarra Grammar School and later studied a Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion at Griffith University, majoring in nutrition. Her brother David and she train under coach Michael Bohl at Griffith University.

Olympic Games

Emma McKeon made her Olympic debut at the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games, where she won a gold medal in the Girls' 4x100m Medley Relay. She also earned silver medals in the 100m Freestyle, Mixed 4x100m Freestyle Relay, and bronze medals in the 50m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, and Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay.

Emma failed to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics but made a strong comeback in 2016. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she was part of Australia's gold medal-winning 4x100m Freestyle Relay team that set a new world record time of 3:30.65. She also secured silver medals in the 4x200m Freestyle Relay and 4x100m Medley Relay and added to her tally with a bronze medal in the 200m Freestyle.

World Championships

Emma McKeon has achieved significant success at the World Aquatics Championships. In 2013, she won a silver medal in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay. She also swam in the heats of the 4x100m Medley Relay and 4x200m Freestyle Relay, which both went on to win silver medals.

At the 2015 Kazan World Championships, Emma claimed gold in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay and bronze in the 4x100m Medley Relay. She finished fourth in the 100m Butterfly and seventh in the 200m Butterfly.

In 2017, Emma captured a remarkable four silver medals and two bronze medals at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest. She competed in the 100m Butterfly, 200m Freestyle, 4x100m Freestyle Relay, and 4x100m Mixed Medley Relay.

At the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, Emma earned a bronze medal in the 100m Butterfly.

Commonwealth Games

Emma McKeon has also dominated the Commonwealth Games, winning a total of 14 medals across three editions. At the 2014 Glasgow Games, she claimed six medals, including four golds. She repeated her feat at the 2018 Gold Coast Games, where she won four golds and two bronze medals.
