Biography of Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron was born on December 21, 1977, in Amiens, France. He is a French statesman, the 25th President of France, and a former banker. Macron is the youngest president in the history of France. He assumed office on May 14, 2017, and also became the co-prince of Andorra.

Early Life and Education

Macron was raised in a non-religious family but was baptized in the Roman Catholic Church at his request when he was 12 years old. He attended the Jesuit school Lycée la Providence in his hometown before transferring to the prestigious Lycée Henri-IV in Paris, where he completed his secondary education. Macron studied philosophy at the University of Paris Nanterre and graduated with a degree in public affairs from the Institute of Political Studies. He then went on to attend the National School of Administration, graduating in 2004.

Career in Finance and Politics

From 2004 to 2008, Macron worked as a financial inspector at the French Ministry of Economy. In 2007, he became the deputy rapporteur of the Commission for Economic Growth, led by Jacques Attali. However, Macron decided to leave the government and pursue a career in investment banking, joining Rothschild & Cie Banque. He became a member of the Socialist Party in 2006 and served as the deputy secretary-general under President François Hollande from 2012 to 2014.

Minister of Economy and Formation of a New Party

Macron was appointed as the Minister of Economy and Finance on August 26, 2014, succeeding Arnaud Montebourg. During his tenure, he implemented business-friendly reforms, including the "Macron Law" aimed at promoting economic growth, activity, and equal opportunities. In August 2015, Macron announced his departure from the Socialist Party and founded his own political movement called "En Marche!" (Onward!).

Macron resigned from his position as Minister of Economy in August 2016, a day before officially announcing his candidacy for the presidency. Macron's political stance is considered centrist, with some observers viewing him as a social liberal and others as a social democrat.

Personal Life

Macron married Brigitte Trogneux, now Brigitte Marie-Claude Macron, whom he met when he was 15 years old. Brigitte is 24 years older than Macron. They got married on October 20, 2007, after Brigitte divorced her first husband in January 2006. Macron's relationship with Brigitte's children from her previous marriage, Sebastien, Laurence, and Tiphaine, has been supportive. Macron is also an experienced pianist, although limited information is available about his musical training.
