Eric Church is an American country music singer and songwriter. Born Kenneth Eric Church in 1977 in Granite Falls, North Carolina, Eric purchased his first guitar at the age of thirteen and immediately started writing his own songs. While still a senior in high school, Eric began performing concerts, playing both his favorite covers and original compositions. Soon, Eric formed his own band called the "Mountain Boys," consisting of his brother, a college roommate, and a guitarist friend.

Eric attended Appalachian State University, specializing in marketing. Despite his future father-in-law's attempts to convince him to pursue a career after college, Eric resisted and wanted to pursue music and nothing else. Time proved him right on three occasions. After breaking up with his fiancée, Eric, who was then considered a rebel, traveled to Nashville. His father, who believed in him, financed the trip and helped him find his path in the diverse world of music genres and styles.

In 2005, Eric Church released his first compositions under a contract with Sony/ATV Tree Music Publishing, marking his first success. He performed extensively and released his debut album, "Sinners Like Me," in 2006. The album's lead single, "How 'Bout You," reached number 14 on the "Hot Country Songs" chart. He soon became a guest on the famous show "Grand Ole Opry." Later, he released the singles "Two Pink Lines" and "Guys Like Me," both of which reached the top 20 on the country charts. In 2008, his song "His Kind of Money (My Kind of Love)" was heavily played on country radio.

In 2009, Eric released the album "Carolina," featuring the hit songs "Love Your Love the Most" and "Hell on the Heart." His next studio album, "Chief," was released in 2011 and debuted at number one on the "Top Country Albums" chart and the "Billboard 200" chart. The album sold 145,000 copies in its first week, earning Eric a Grammy nomination in 2012. The singles "Homeboy" and "Drink in My Hand" from the album "Chief" became national country hits, propelling Eric Church to tremendous popularity and making him one of America's top country singers.

In 2011, Eric received the title of "Top New Solo Vocalist" from the Academy of Country Music. In his personal life, Eric married Katherine Blasingame, who works in the recording industry, in 2008. They welcomed their son, Boone McCoy Church, in 2011, and the family resides in Nashville.
