Erik Estrada, born Henry Enrique Estrada, is an American actor. He was born in 1949 in New York City, United States. His mother, Carmen Estrada, worked as a seamstress, while his father, Renildo Estrada, was a Puerto Rican with a small business that didn't bring in much income.

From a young age, Erik had a passion for movies and would spend hours watching westerns and action films, dreaming of one day being on the screen himself. Little did anyone know that Estrada would later become one of the most famous Latino actors.

Erik made his first appearance on screen as a child in a commercial for 'Fritos' chips. He played the role of the Frito Bandito, which eventually became the symbol of the company.

After his parents' divorce, Erik moved with his mother to live with her new husband, Pancho Dostela. It was Pancho who inspired him to believe that any dream, no matter how crazy, can come true if you believe in it. This belief led Erik to pursue acting, and he eventually landed his first professional role as Nicky Cruz in the film 'The Cross and the Switchblade', after completing acting courses.

In 1974, Erik was cast in the hit film 'Airport 1975' as an onboard engineer who sacrifices his life to disarm a terrorist on a hijacked Boeing 747. He continued to play similar roles, such as a heroic engineer in the historical film 'Midway' in 1976.

After the end of the 'CHiPs' series in 1983, Erik faced a three-year period of struggling to find work. He took on roles in low-budget films and cheap TV series to make ends meet. In 1987, he was offered a role in the multi-episode police drama 'Hunter'.

One of Erik's most famous works is the telenovela 'Dos mujeres, un camino', which spanned over 400 episodes. Despite not knowing Spanish, he managed to negotiate a salary of over a million dollars for his role.

In 1994, Estrada became the host of the adventure show 'American Adventurer', which aired until 2004. He also began appearing on talk shows and hosting various events.

Although Erik appeared frequently on screen, he did not gain significant popularity. In 1997, he wrote his autobiography titled 'Erik Estrada: My Road from Harlem to Hollywood'.

In the 2000s, Erik continued to act, mostly in comedic roles or in films and series for children produced by Disney.

Erik is known for his love of music and has appeared in music videos for his favorite artists. He also works as a sheriff in Virginia when he is not filming. He is actively involved in youth and political movements, campaigning against drug addiction, alcoholism, and smoking.

Erik humbly believes that people tend to see more in his actions because of his occupation as both an actor and a sheriff.
