Esa Tikkanen, a former Finnish ice hockey player, was born on January 25, 1965, in Helsinki, Finland. He was known as a star of Finnish hockey and played as a left winger throughout his career. Tikkanen spent the majority of his NHL career with the "Edmonton Oilers," where he achieved great success.
Early Career
Tikkanen began his professional career in Finland, playing for HIFK Helsinki. He quickly established himself as a skilled and versatile forward, catching the attention of NHL scouts. In 1985, he was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round of the NHL Entry Draft.
NHL Career
Tikkanen joined the Edmonton Oilers in the 1985-1986 season and became an integral part of their successful roster. Known for his defensive abilities and relentless style of play, Tikkanen played a crucial role in the team's five Stanley Cup victories in 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990, and 1994.
