Biography of Ethan Hawke
Ethan Hawke is an American actor, film director, and screenwriter. He is also a writer who has received a good theatrical education. He studied acting at the renowned McCarter Theatre in Princeton, attended acting courses at the British Theatre Association in England and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He is one of the founders of the theater troupe "Malaparte" and serves as its artistic director.
Early Life and Career
Ethan Hawke's parents divorced shortly after his birth. After his mother remarried, the family moved to Princeton. Ethan first appeared on camera at the age of 14 in the science fiction film "Explorers." His breakthrough as an actor came in 1988 with the film "Dead Poets Society," followed by many other successful film projects. He was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2001 film "Training Day." In 2004, Hawke was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film "Before Sunset."

Since June 18, 2008, he has been married to Ryan Shawhughes. The couple has two daughters, Clementine Jane Hawke (2008) and Indiana Hawke (2011). Hawke currently resides in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, and owns a small island in Nova Scotia.
