Oksana Kononenko: Ukrainian Writer and Translator
Early Life and EducationOksana Kononenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. She graduated with a degree in mechanics and mathematics from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 1981, and later earned a degree in French Philology from the Kyiv Institute of Foreign Languages in 1994.
Literary Career
Kononenko is a member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine and the Association of Ukrainian Writers. Her works have been published in various literary magazines, including "Suchasnist", "Kurier Kryvbasu", "Berezyil", and "Vsesvit".
Translation Work
As a translator, Kononenko has translated works from French and English into Ukrainian. Notable translations include "The Brides of Cape Tenes" by Vénus Khoury-Ghata and "Passion" and "A Woman's Story" by Annie Ernaux.
Awards and Recognition
Kononenko's work has been translated into Russian, English, French, German, and Croatian. She has received several awards for her achievements, including:
