Early Life and Education

Bektemir is a Russian poet, prose writer, and critic of Uzbek origin. He spent his childhood in Namangan and moved to Tashkent in 1978. In 1993, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at Tashkent State University.

Literary Career

Bektemir began publishing his works in various literary magazines, including "Arion," "Druzhba Narodov," "Zvezda Vostoka," "Znamia," "Ierusalimsky Zhurnal," and "Novaya Yunost." His poetry and prose also appeared in the almanacs "Maly Sheлкоvy Put" (Tashkent-Moscow, 1999-2005) and "Interpoezia" (New York-Moscow, 2005).

Recognition and Awards

Bektemir's literary talent has been recognized with several prestigious awards. In 2004 and 2006, he won awards from the journal "Oktyabr." He also received the "Russkaya Premiya" in 2005 and the youth award "Triumf" in 2006.

Editorial Work

Since 2006, Bektemir has served on the editorial board of the journal "Zvezda Vostoka." In 2008, he joined the editorial council of the journal "Druzhba Narodov." His contributions to these journals have furthered his influence in the literary world.
