Biography of Evgeniy Buslovich

Evgeniy Buslovich, a freestyle wrestler, was born on January 26, 1972, in Kyiv. He studied at Secondary School No. 149 in the Zaliznychne district of Kyiv. He started practicing sports in 1984, under the guidance of Alexander Omelchenko.

Achievements in Ukraine

Evgeniy Buslovich achieved numerous first-place finishes at the Ukrainian Championships in freestyle wrestling. He made his international debut in August 1992, placing fifth at the European Wrestling Championship in Székesfehérvár. This was followed by several championships at the national, European, and world levels. He participated twice in the World Wrestling Championships, finishing sixth in 1998 and 25th in 1999. In 1998 and 2000, he secured third place at the European Wrestling Championship. Additionally, he won the silver medal for Ukraine in the 58 kg category at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

Later Career and Tragic Death

From 2001 to 2002 and from 2004 to 2007, Buslovich successfully competed for German clubs such as "KSV Köllebach," "KG Greiz / Mohlsdorf," and "KSV Witten 07." However, he retired from professional sports in 2004. He later worked as a coach at the sports society "Gart."

Tragically, on October 15, 2007, Evgeniy Buslovich was fatally struck by a minibus while out for an evening run on the 38th kilometer of the Zhytomyr Highway, which connects Kyiv and Rivne. He left behind his wife Angela and their two children: 11-year-old daughter Angelika and 7-year-old son Artem. He was buried in the village of Kolonshchyna in Makariv district, Kyiv oblast.

State Awards and Recognitions

Evgeniy Buslovich received several state awards and recognitions, including the Order "For Merit" III degree on October 6, 2000. He was also honored with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on November 27, 2002, and received a State Scholarship on April 13, 2005.
