Early Life and Education

Fidan Kasimova, a renowned Azerbaijani soprano, was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. Her parents, Ekrem and Tukeezban Kasimova, instilled in her a deep love for music. After graduating from the Bulbul Specialized Music School, Kasimova pursued her passion at the Uzeyir Hajibeyov Azerbaijan State Conservatory in 1966.

She earned degrees in both violin (under Prof. Ganeyev S.) and vocals (under Assoc. Prof. I.A. Lvovich). Kasimova then completed an internship at the Moscow Conservatory, graduating with honors.

International Recognition

In 1973, Kasimova participated in the International Competition for Young Singers in Geneva, Switzerland, where she won a silver medal. In 1974, she became a soloist at the Azerbaijan State Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

Her career reached new heights in 1977 when she won the gold medal at the International Competition in Italy. Kasimova's exceptional vocal abilities captivated audiences worldwide.

Teaching and Mentorship

In 1993, Kasimova became the head of the Vocal Department at the Baku Music Academy. She also taught at the Istanbul Conservatory from 1992 to 1998. Kasimova's dedication to nurturing young talent led to the establishment of the F. Kasimova Republican Competition for Young Opera Singers in Baku in 1997.

Award and Honors

In recognition of her significant contributions to the development of the performing arts, Kasimova was awarded the "Sharaf" Order by President H. Aliyev in 1997. Her younger sister, Khuraman Kasimova, is also a renowned opera singer and People's Artist of Azerbaijan. Together, they have performed extensively in Azerbaijan and abroad.

In 2008, Kasimova released the musical single "Besame mucho," which was dedicated to Azerbaijan's first lady, Mehriban Aliyeva. She continues to perform successfully in both Azerbaijan and internationally.

On April 2, 2010, Kasimova gave a triumphant solo concert at the Chamber Hall of the Moscow International House of Music. Accompanied by renowned Russian pianist Sergey Voronov, she captivated the audience with her renditions of classical works.
