Early Life and Education
Professor Fikret Aliyev, an accomplished Azerbaijani scientist, was born on August 13, 1949, in Nuvadi village, Meghri region, Armenia. In 1971, he graduated from Azerbaijan State University. He then pursued graduate studies at the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, receiving his candidate's degree in 1975.
Academic Career
Aliyev's academic career began in 1975 when he joined the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan as a junior research fellow. He rose through the ranks, becoming a senior research fellow in 1992.
In 1992-1993, Aliyev served as a professor at Istanbul Technical University. Since 1993, he has held the position of Director of the Research Institute of Applied Mathematics at Baku State University and Head of the Department of "Image Recognition and Data Processing."
Scientific Achievements
Professor Aliyev has made significant contributions to the field of mathematics, authoring over 150 published scientific papers. Notably, 95 of his works have been recognized internationally.
Honors and Affiliations
Aliyev's scientific excellence has earned him numerous honors and memberships. In 1990, he received his Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences degree. In 1992, he became a professor. He was elected a full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NASAA) in 2001.
Additionally, Aliyev is a member of the American Mathematical Society since 1993, the World Computer Association since 1996, and the New York Academy of Sciences since 1997.
