Early Life and Career
Flavio Olivera was born into a creative family. In his childhood, he showed talent as an actor and expressed his creative passion on theatrical stages throughout the country. In the late 1980s, Olivera became interested in fashion to the extent that he decided to fly directly to New York City to pursue his newfound passion. When asked why he started with handbags, Olivera explained, "While on vacation in Brazil, my sister, who used to be a shoe designer, approached me out of the blue and asked, 'Why don't you create a line of handbags?' After much contemplation and realizing that I was tired of working for others, I decided to take her advice and made a few samples. I showed them to a couple of friends in the fashion industry, and they all liked what I had done. I returned to Los Angeles, found a sales representative, and immediately received an order from 'Fred Segal.' I thought it was a sign that I should do all this."
With each new fashion season, Flavio expanded his collections, skillfully combining his Brazilian passion for vibrant colors and the finest Italian leather with exquisite design. His professionalism, including attention to every detail, goes hand in hand with his inexhaustible inspiration, which stems from the eclectic mix of cultures in New York City, the city Olivera calls home.
