Biography of Francis Matthew Romanov
Francis Alexander Matthew Romanov was born on September 20, 1979, in London. He is a direct descendant of the Romanov dynasty and is known for his work as a fashion photographer. Francis has captured fashion stories for prestigious glossy magazines such as "VOGUE," "GQ," and "ELLE," among others.
Family Background
Francis comes from a family that owns the Provender estate in Kent, Great Britain. His mother, Olga Andreevna Romanova, is the only daughter of Prince Andrei Alexandrovich from his second marriage to Englishwoman Nadine Sylvia Ada MacDougall. Olga is the granddaughter of Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich and Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna. She is also distantly related to Queen Elizabeth II, the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom.
Early Life
Francis's parents, Olga and Thomas Matthew, divorced in 1989. His grandfather, Andrei Romanov, was the son of Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna and Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich of Russia. Francis's parents met in Livadia, Crimea, where their romantic love story began. While Alexander traveled the world, Xenia wrote him touching love letters from the age of 11. He was her first and only love, and all their family events were connected to Crimea.
Family and Career
Francis has three siblings: Nikolai Matthew (born in 1976), Alexandra Matthew (born in 1981), and the late Thomas Matthew (born on November 27, 1987, and passed away on April 20, 1989). Having a desire to reconnect with his Slavic roots, Francis gladly accepted an offer from a Ukrainian channel. His mother, Princess Olga Andreevna Romanova, also approved of his decision.
Photography Career
Before pursuing photography, Francis explored various professions. However, for the past eight years, he has dedicated himself to photography. He has been shooting fashion stories for world-renowned glossy magazines, including "VOGUE," "GQ," and "ELLE." Francis was involved in launching the Indian version of "VOGUE" and spent the last few years living in India. As a descendant of the Romanovs, he also published a photo album documenting the history of the imperial dynasty.
Other Ventures
In the autumn of 2011, Francis agreed to participate as the main character in the romantic show "The Bachelor 2," which aired on the Ukrainian channel STB. The premiere took place on March 8, 2012. Currently, Francis Matthew Romanov is unmarried.
