From 1935 onward, Verchuren embarked on an extensive concert career, performing throughout France and various European nations. His exceptional talent was recognized in 1938 when he emerged as the champion of the inaugural Coupe Mondiale des Accordionistes in Paris.

During the period from 1949 to 1961, Verchuren served as an esteemed accompanist to renowned singers such as Yves Montand, Juliette Gréco, and Guy Béart. His artistic merits were further underscored by the prestigious Grand Prix du Disque, which he received in 1949.
