Early Life and Aspiration
Born on December 11, 1994, in St. Louis, Missouri, as Louis Gabriel Basso, the actor was named after his father and grandfather. Homeschooled alongside his sisters, Alexandria and Annalisa, Gabriel aspired to become a soccer player from a young age. However, his artistic inclinations emerged later, encompassing acting, painting, and music (guitar and violin).
Hollywood Beginnings
Despite his initial ambitions in graphic design or professional sports, Basso's debut film projects surfaced in 2007 with uncredited roles in "Meet Bill" and "Alice Upside Down." Relocating to Los Angeles with his family in 2008, he secured a role in the supernatural television series "Ghost Town" within a week.
Subsequent appearances in "iCarly," "Eastwick," and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" led to Basso's breakthrough role in the sitcom "The Big C," where he portrayed Adam, the son of the main characters. He remained in the show for four seasons.
Cinematic Breakouts
Concurrently with "The Big C," Basso made a notable appearance in the 2011 science fiction adventure "Super 8," directed by Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams. In 2013, he took the lead in "Kings of Summer" as a young rebel escaping his parents.
Personal Life
Guarding his privacy, Basso occasionally shares glimpses of his personal life, including his young daughter, born in 2020, on his social media. He also pursues his artistic passions through painting, music (drums), and physical fitness, indulging in boxing, skydiving, bungee jumping, and mountaineering.
Return to the Screen
In 2023, Basso returned to television with a starring role in Netflix's "The Night Agent," a political thriller series. Demonstrating his acting range, he played an FBI agent navigating a web of secrets and conspiracies within the White House.
