Galina Izmailova - Soviet Uzbek Ballerina and Ballet Master

Galina Bayazitovna Izmailova, born on February 12, 1923 in Tomsk, is a Soviet ballet artist and People's Artist of the USSR (1962). She began her ballet education in 1935 at the ballet school in Tashkent, and in 1941 she joined the A. Navoi Opera and Ballet Theater in Tashkent.

Notable Performances and Achievements

During her career, Galina Izmailova performed various roles, including Maria in Asafyev's "The Fountain of Bakhchisarai," Kitri in Minkus' "Don Quixote," Scheherazade in Rimsky-Korsakov's eponymous ballet, and Carmen in Ravel's "Bolero," among others. She was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1950 and honored with the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Badge of Honor, and various medals for her contributions to ballet.
