Biography of Garth Brooks
Garth Brooks is an American country music singer-songwriter, a laureate of two Grammy Awards and other accolades. Incorporating elements of rock into his music, Brooks gained immense popularity and became part of the mainstream, attracting a wide audience to his musical genre.

Early Life and Education
Garth Brooks was born on February 7, 1962, in Oklahoma. His father, Troyal Raymond Brooks, worked as a draftsman in an oil company. His mother, Colleen Carroll, was a professional country singer in the 1950s and recorded for the influential label "Capitol." Growing up, Brooks and his five siblings often sang together in their everyday family life, although his primary focus was on sports. In his senior years, he played for the school teams in American football and baseball, as well as competed in track and field events. His achievements in running allowed Brooks to receive a sports scholarship to Oklahoma State University, where he also participated in javelin throwing competitions. He graduated from the university in 1984 with a degree in advertising.

Music Career
In the same year of his graduation, Garth Brooks began his professional music career, performing in bars and accompanying himself on the guitar. One evening, his performance was heard by music industry representative Rod Phelps, who had specially driven from Dallas to see him. Phelps liked his performance and convinced Brooks to make his first demo recording and go to Nashville to sign a contract with a record company. In just 24 hours, Brooks traveled to Nashville and back, achieving his desired outcome.
Personal Life
In 1986, Brooks married Sandy Mahl, whom he had met while working as a bouncer. The couple later raised three daughters, born in 1992, 1994, and 1996.
Success and Achievements
Garth Brooks found success with the release of his first album, self-titled "Garth Brooks," which was well-received by critics and reached the second position on the country music chart and the 13th position on the Billboard pop music chart. The album mostly adhered to the traditions of the country music style. The first single from the album, "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)," entered the top ten most popular songs in the country. The next released song, "If Tomorrow Never Comes," became a number one hit in the country, while "Not Counting You" reached the second position and "The Dance" brought Brooks back to the top spot.
His second album, "No Fences," released in 1990, remained at the top of the Billboard country albums chart for 23 weeks. It also reached the third position among popular albums across all genres and became Brooks' best-selling album, selling 17 million copies throughout his career. His third album, "Ropin' the Wind," received four million pre-orders and debuted at number one on the popular music chart, making history for country music recordings.
Throughout his career, Garth Brooks experimented with various musical styles, releasing two more albums and selling over 100 million records in the United States alone by the year 2000. In 2000, Brooks announced his retirement from music to spend more time with his family. His career became one of the most successful in the history of pop music, as he broke numerous records for album sales and concert attendance in the 1990s.
Comeback and Later Career
Starting in 2005, Garth Brooks partially resumed his concert activities. As he stated in a biographical documentary film, if his career were compared to a football game, the second half has not started yet, and a significant break is taking place.
