NBA Draft and the Seattle SuperSonics Era
In the 1990 NBA Draft, Payton was selected 2nd overall by the Seattle SuperSonics. He quickly established himself as a force, earning All-Rookie Team honors in his first season. Under Payton's leadership, the SuperSonics became a competitive team in the 1990s, thanks to his exceptional play on both ends of the court.
