Early Life and EmigrationGavin J. Grant, an American writer and anthologist, was born in Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland. He embarked on a journey across the Atlantic in 1991, relocating to the United States upon completing his studies at university.
Northampton Residency and Small Beer Press
Grant currently resides in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he collaborates with his wife, fellow writer Kelly Link. Together, they established Small Beer Press, an independent publishing house that specializes in speculative fiction. Since its inception, the press has released approximately 8-10 books annually.
Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet
In addition to its publishing endeavors, Small Beer Press produces the semiprofessional magazine "Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet," of which Grant serves as editor-in-chief. Despite its modest circulation, the magazine has garnered critical acclaim, being shortlisted for the prestigious Hugo Award in 2007. Its pages have been graced by the writings of renowned authors such as Nalo Hopkinson, Karen Joy Fowler, Jeffrey Ford, and Ted Chiang.
