Armenian Thinker and Nationalist
Early Life and EducationHaigazn Kazazian was born in the province of Alaşkert, Western Armenia. In his school years, he joined the Dashnaktsutyun Party and later published the party newspaper "Shant" in Yerevan (1918-1919).
Political Involvement and Exile
Kazazian participated in the February Uprising of 1921 but later fled to Persia, where he met Garegin Nzhdeh. He studied at the Berlin Higher Political School and subsequently obtained a doctorate from Prague University in 1930.
Collaboration with Nzhdeh
In 1932, Kazazian withdrew from the Dashnaktsutyun Party and closely collaborated with Nzhdeh and the Ethnovera movement. In Bulgaria, he published the newspapers "Eagle of Taron" and "Razmik."
Literary Contributions and Imprisonment
In 1942, Kazazian published the first part of his book "Armenia - Aryan Outpost in Western Asia" in Armenian and German. In 1945, he was arrested by Soviet soldiers in Bulgaria and imprisoned.
Final Days and Legacy
Kazazian was released in 1955 and died of a heart attack in Sofia a year later. According to legend, his dying words were "Ah, Armenia!" repeated three times. He made significant contributions as a historian, philosopher, and ardent Armenian nationalist.
