Gena Bukin, also known as Gennady Petrovich Bukin, is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the popular Russian TV series "Happy Together". He was discovered in Yekaterinburg, after an extensive search for the perfect actor to play the lead role in the series. Little did anyone know at the time that the show would become one of the highest-rated Russian shows, capturing the hearts of three generations of families, including the elderly and children.

Gena Bukin had high hopes for his future. He was incredibly popular in school and excelled in sports. He fondly remembers a time when he scored a hat-trick while playing for the football team "Ural Stars" and even received an invitation to join Moscow's "CSKA". Unfortunately, his dreams of playing for the renowned Russian club were dashed when his young wife Dasha accidentally dropped a car on his foot, causing him to miss the opportunity. The show is often seen as a Russian adaptation of the American series "Married... with Children", with the Bukin family's lifestyle mirroring that of the American counterparts. While Americans can maintain relative comfort on a low income, Russian critics have pointed out some inconsistencies in the Russian version.

Gena Bukin's wife, Dasha, is lazy and unemployed but constantly complains about the lack of money. Despite their frequent bickering, the couple loves each other. Gena and Dasha's relationship is depicted as essential, as it is unimaginable to picture Gena without her. Despite receiving criticism, the TV series "Happy Together" had a massive audience, and Gena Bukin became a beloved character. In fact, a 2-meter monument of Gena Bukin holding a woman's shoe was erected on Vayner Street in Yekaterinburg.
