Biography of Godfrey Baguma

Godfrey Baguma, a former cobbler from Uganda, gained fame as the "Uganda's ugliest man" due to a serious facial deformity. Despite his physical appearance, Baguma has defied odds and become a father for the eighth time. His 30-year-old wife, Kate Namanda, gave birth to a baby girl. Baguma earned his unpleasant title in 2002 when he participated in a contest for the "ugliest man" to earn money for his struggling family.

Before marrying Kate, Baguma was previously married and had two children with his first wife. However, their relationship ended in divorce after Baguma discovered his wife's infidelity. Reflecting on how he began courting Kate, Baguma revealed, "We spent four years together before her family found out who she was with. I didn't want them to see me before we had a child. They would have advised her to leave me."

"She left me when she was six months pregnant. But I believe she accepted her fate because she returned to me after a couple of months. I told her that I didn't choose how I look, and if she felt burdened by me, she was free to leave." Baguma and Kate tied the knot in 2013 and now have six children together. Their first child was born in 2008.

Speaking about her relationship with someone as unique as Baguma, Kate advised others, "Once you find someone you deem suitable for you, don't listen to what others say. Follow your heart. A person's appearance or wealth should not be a problem for you."

Baguma, who goes by the stage name "Ssebabi," currently earns most of his income from public performances. He sings and does stand-up comedy, showcasing his talents despite his physical condition.
