Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Lars-Erik Zubizki, a renowned Swedish oboist, was born to an opera singer mother. He spent his early years in Austria, Germany, Australia, and South Africa. It was during his time in South Africa that he began singing in a children's choir under the guidance of his mother. His talent was evident, leading him to become a soloist in the Johannesburg Boys' Choir.
The Voice of a Child
In 1970, Zubizki's childhood singing career culminated in the release of the album "Serenade". Featuring Zubizki's vocals accompanied by the Boys' Choir, the album showcased his exceptional abilities.
From Voice to Wind
Zubizki's musical path took a turn as he transitioned from singing to playing the oboe. He has since established himself as one of the leading oboists in Sweden, holding the prestigious position of artistic director of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Concert Hall in Örebro.
Chamber Music and Collaborations
In 1991, Zubizki co-founded the Stavanger International Chamber Music Festival with cellist Truls Mørk. His recordings as an oboist have received critical acclaim. Notable works include Richard Strauss' concertos, Bohuslav Martinů's Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra, and Jean Françaix's "L'Horloge de Flore" with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Jukka-Pekka Saraste.
Rediscovering the French Oboe
Zubizki's album "French Oboe" features sonatas by Saint-Saëns, Dutilleux, and Poulenc. This recording demonstrates his mastery of the French oboe repertoire.
