Biography of Guler Sabanci
Guler Sabanci is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sabanci Holding. Her appointment to this prestigious position is a fascinating and atypical story. The reins of leadership were handed over to Guler by her uncle, who, before departing this world, chose not to appoint any of the numerous male heirs as his successor. The Sabanci family business was then entrusted to Guler. The Turks were taken aback by the appointment of a woman to such a prominent position, as Turkey remains predominantly patriarchal. However, those around her were only surprised, as Guler is a highly respected and revered individual. Additionally, she is an exceptional businesswoman who cannot imagine her life without business and consistently emphasizes that she cannot fathom the thought of losing it.

In reality, Sabanci leads one of the largest companies in Turkey. And once, nearly thirty years ago, she was an ordinary worker in the family tire production company. She achieved her success through hard work and persistence. It is no wonder that by 2004, Guler had acquired the necessary knowledge, skills, and practical experience, which naturally contributed to her appointment to a managerial position. Sabanci Holding is an extremely large and multifaceted organization. Its activities encompass various aspects, such as energy and tourism, tire production and financial services, food products, and other sectors. Under Guler's expert guidance, the company's profits steadily grow. For example, in 2007, Sabanci Holding's revenue increased by 93 percent and reached $518 million. Such impressive figures do not deter Guler's determination. On the contrary, she strives for more and is currently actively developing retail trade, cement production, and electricity generation, while also seeking to expand into the markets of Eastern European countries.
Guler is an educated and proactive individual. Moreover, her field of activity is not limited solely to business. For instance, Guler advocates for the quality of education and has established a private educational institution, a university. Guler Sabanci rightfully occupies one of the esteemed positions on the list of the 25 most successful businesswomen in Europe. As she climbs the career ladder, Guler overcomes difficulties, achieves results, and serves as an undeniable example to emulate not only for women but also for some representatives of the male gender.
