Although he had a rough start, losing his first tournament in 1996 during the World Series of Poker, Hansen's perseverance paid off. In 2002, he won his first major tournament, the World Poker Tour. This victory was the result of Hansen's dedication to mastering the psychological aspects of the game, in addition to his card skills.
